To the whole endangered species rant: the reason we save the species is because we’re speeding up their extinction which is supposed to be a bad thing. But we are here so it seems kind of stupid. Maybe the earth wasn’t meant to be industrialized the way we have and they should be saved because it’s our doing. What's wrong with keeping species around? If we were dying wouldn't you want someone to save you?
Also, global warming is definitely happening. There is a ton of evidence to support this. Considering that global warming wasn’t happening until industrialization, wouldn’t you think that it is our fault? Do you believe in coincidences Mr. Carlin? What about cause and effect?
Most of what Carlin said was a bunch of nonsense but I do think he managed to make a few good points. One thing that stuck out in my mind was when he said it's not the planet that needs to be saved, but it's the human race that needs to be saved. I think this is actually somewhat true. If global warming continues and we run out of fresh water, sea levels rise, and the weather gets more severe, the planet will be great, just not great to us. It's not going to blow up or anything from all the carbon emissions, in fact it probably won't do anything.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with you about the endangered species rant. According to Carlin, endangered species are meant to just become extinct. We are one of the reason's most of these species face extinction so I think we should be constantly showing an effort to prevent this from happening.
